Pros: Works fine once I figured out how to install it. Worth the cost, maybe not the frustration.
Cons: Like many others posted, this didn't work out of the box. 3 stars instead of 4 because of the problematic installation.
Overall Review: On XP Pro SP3: After a lot of headache, installed it with the included software, but selected Windows operation, not the Asus control program, and it worked fine. I tried just directing Windows to the software disk on another computer, but it wouldn't work that way, had to use the Asus installer to load the drivers. If you select Asus control and it doesn't work, you'll have to uninstall the Asus software and start over. Just remember that when the installation asks if you want to use Asus management or Windows, just select Windows.
Pros: No driver loading for Ubuntu 9.10 AMD 64, just plug it in and choose the your router from the Desktop.
Cons: None
Pros: none...no work
Cons: tried to install on 4 computers 2 with 7 and 2 with linux
it installs and uninstalls constantly every 5 seconds...tried cd and asus update...nada...will keep dongle but thats it.
Asus Wl-167g Driver
Pros: In theory you can plug in it and use it as a Wireless Access Point...
Cons: I Thought because ASUS usually know's what they are doing, ASUS would be a sure bet. Unfortunately, I am entering week 3 of (We will respond in 48 hours) This just does not work in XP Pro 64-bit, and it was buggy as heck in XP 32-bit. YES I know their website lists drivers for it in XP 64-bit, and they install PERFECTLY, and it shows the device installed and 'Working properly' and yet, the Asus software can't even detect it.
Overall Review: I just threw my money away, what a waste.
Pros: This thing works great. It picks up my wireless signal from behind the couch two rooms away. It is small and the universal joint lets you move it around a little. Disc comes with Windows XP and Vista drivers, but if you plug it in under Windows 7 the driver installs automagically and works right away. I had a Dlink USB adapter in the same spot that you had to elevate over the couch via extension in order to get any connection, with this one -- no problems.
Cons: None, beautiful piece of equipment.
Overall Review: Using it in the living room for HTPC with Windows 7. Dlink N router is the wireless source from the kitchen.
If you use it under Windows XP, use the ASUS SW included to configure and control it, not the built-in widows wireless manager.
Asus Wireless Adapter Wl 167g Driver For Mac
Pros: Its cheap.
Cons: Being that its cheap I suppose I should have known better. Installed under windows 7.. windows installed the driver OK (or so it said). Doesn't see any wireless connections, and the Asus wireless manager utility doesn't even recognize the hardware as plugged in. Installed the new driver from the Asus website for windows 7 with no luck. Uninstalled, re-installed, nothing. Nada. Its garbage. The hardware is obviously faulty.
Overall Review: Thanks again for the quick shipping New Egg!
Pros: They work great! Good connection and no need to install drivers with windows 7. They work fine for even playing online games like L4d2 when you have down time in your shop ;)
Cons: Like others have said, it is flimsy. I've had 2 customers bring them back to be because they had it in their laptop and hit the dongle somehow or another. The real problem is, is that Asus didn't actually solder the connections down and instead just pressed the leads down to the connection pads. This is easily fixed by just taking a little time and soldering the connections back on and gluing down the case. Or better yet, being careful like you should be. It technically could happen to any usb stick.
Overall Review: Like I said, they work great. Whether it be a laptop or a desktop, but I think these are best suited for a desktop considering how fragile they are. I'm gonna try the Asus USB-N13 since it looks like it has a little extra security around the metal part so it doesn't break as easily.
Pros: Worked great, except for 1000ms ping spike every 10-20 seconds.
Cons: Very flimsy, if you hit it while it's attached to USB, the connector breaks right off.
Dead already.
