Pros
People: it's possibile to create a kext from Linux driver? If someone have a ability to create this Kext for my Intel wireless, I buy this Kext 5,99$ But who will fund the development of it, LOL.5,99$ hardly covers a snack for 1 coding session.
Dual Band, N, pretty stable
Cons
When I bought a dual-band router a year ago, the wifi card didn't scream 'I can do 5 GHz.' Imagine my surprise, after all this time. Since I tend to run with the router's SSID turned off, I guess I missed any 5 GHz clue.
Summary
The Dell wifi-software (in this Inspiron 1520 laptop) was NOT stable, slowing down and dropping connections continually.
The Dell wifi-software lead me on an education about troubleshooting wireless connections until I figured out that it's best to un-install the Dell wifi-software. After that, the laptop was left with the 'generic' Intel wifi-software, which works just fine, perfectly stable, and I don't recall ever having a problem with 'lost functionality' after reverting to it. Well, maybe the Intel software isn't quite as colorful as Dell's, but it works fine.
