I haven't been happy with my driver for some time now and felt that the head was 'dead'. I tried a buddy's Nike Sumo2 5900 and liked how solid it felt on impact and after trying several other drivers in the $100 - $150 range, I decided this was the driver for me. I stuck with the stock Diamani graphite shaft, regular flex. I am still getting used to the large square head but am starting to see improvement in distance and accuracy over my old Taylormade R560. I think a after a few more range sessions and rounds, my game off of the tee will greatly improve. Nike has subsequently released 2 newer versions of this club so it was available in retail stores for 60% off of it's original price. I bought it off eBay because I could get it new for another 25% off that discounted price.I affectionately call it my Bissel driver because I feel like I swinging a small sweeper. The more I hit it, the less awkward it feels. The shaft flexes well and the stock grip feels very good. It really feels solid at impact and off-center strikes still feel good and have good distance. It is a very forgiving club. I could have spent a lot more and got the latest technology but if I had to do it again, I 'd make the same decision. Nike claim the SQ SUMO2 5900 Driver is their straightest driver ever. A deeper face and even squarer design has further optimised head stability and produced the max MOI. Although lacking some distance and penetration for our pro, our amateurs found it extremely forgiving and easy to launch and that’s what this striking looking driver is designed to do.
Pro Verdict: This sounds and feels much better than the previous Nike square model but it didn’t suit me at all and everything wanted to go left.
